Sometimes the hardest seasons of life are the ones we never saw coming.

Illness, caregiving, grief and unexpected changes can leave life looking very different from what you imagined. Sometimes it helps to have somewhere to talk openly about what's happening, without feeling like you need to have the right words or know what comes next.

Counselling

Hi, I’m Kathryn.

Life doesn’t always go the way we expect. Illness, caregiving, the loss of someone you love, the loss of a pet, changes in relationships or work…sometimes life looks very different from what you thought it would.

I’m a registered nurse and certified nurse psychotherapist (qualifying), and I’ve spent much of my career working with people experiencing illness, caregiving, grief, and loss. I also bring my own life experience to this work. Life has thrown some pretty big things my way too.

I’m not here to tell you what to do, and I won’t try to “fix” what has happened or what is happening. Some things can’t be fixed.

Our work can involve exploring what you’re experiencing, recognizing patterns that may be contributing to how you’re feeling, and developing practical strategies to help you cope. I draw from approaches such as CBT and other evidence-informed therapies, while tailoring our work to your individual circumstances and what feels most helpful.

If you’re living a life that looks different than you expected, we can figure out where to start.

Curious But Not Quite Sure?

Beginning therapy is a personal decision, and it's important that you feel comfortable with the person you're working with. I offer a complimentary 20-minute consultation so we can get to know one another, discuss your goals, and determine whether working together feels like the right fit (and it's okay if it doesn't!).

Full sessions are 50 minutes and $150.

Please note that while I don't currently offer direct billing, I will provide you with a receipt following each session that you can submit to your insurance provider. Many extended health benefit plans cover services provided by a registered nurse, and Health Spending Accounts may also provide reimbursement. Because every insurance plan is different, I encourage you to confirm your coverage before booking your first appointment.
